This week the Cuomo administration kicked off a series of workshops across the state. The goal is help New Yorkers start and grow their own small businesses.
Several hundred current and aspiring small business owners came to the first two workshops in Utica and Schenectady.
They got advice from half-a-dozen state agencies about the technical side of running a business - things like how to hire employees, secure insurance and maintain proper accounting practices.
Alphonso David is a deputy secretary with the governor’s office. He says these events are aimed at sparking broader economic growth.
“As you’ve probably heard, we say all the time, ‘Governor Cuomo’s top priority is jobs, jobs, jobs,’ ” David says. “And small business owners account for more than 90 percent of the businesses.”
The next two workshops will be April 23 in Buffalo and April 24 in Rochester.
