Brad Smith

Brad Smith won the Cortland County (NY) spelling bee as a seventh grader from Homer High, in a championship broadcast live on local radio. Brad’s been trying to relive the “magnificent” moment ever since.

Brad’s search for winning words took him to Geneseo, Geneva, Dansville, Warsaw, Syracuse and Rochester. He loves that WXXI has many ways to share news and useful information.

His work as a television newsroom manager allowed him to see Elton John, Stevie Wonder, BonnieRaittand Tina Turner in Austin, Texas; PhilKeaggyin Cortland;U2and 10,000 Maniacs in Rochester and Cher in Buffalo.

Need further proof he can’t hold a job?  Brad’s 35 year career puts him on a very short list of those who have worked in every TV newsroom in Rochester.
