Can’t get enough hearings, and simply can’t wait until part two of the EPA shindig unfolds on Wednesday? Lexology tells us that the Bureau d’Audiences Publiques sur l’Environnement in Quebec has a hearing tomorrow about potential oil and gas exploitation in the Utica shale formation.
And Switchboard, the blog by staffers at the Natural Resources Defense Council, has several posts about the EPA’s request for fracking fluid formulas and incidences of water contamination following fracking.
Today
Treehugger asks if anti-fracking folks are “environmental extremists.” They’re responding to ProPublica’s efforts to dig through the Pennsylvania Department of Homeland Security’s files.
The Ithaca Journal has a letter today weighing in on the gas industry, saying it “spouts canards.” Another writer says that shale exploitation has led her to become newly engaged as an activist against natural gas exploitation.
The Press & Sun-Bulletin has Rep. Maurice Hinchey’s testimony from the hearing and Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala’s comments up on their site. They also note what Innovation Trail’s Ryan Morden tweeted: the Vikings are upon us! A Norwegian TV crew showed up to film the hearing. Perhaps they heard “herring?”
