A summary of our coverage of Hurricane Sandy to date.

Philly spared the wrath

Although Sandy passed directly overhead last night, Philadelphia was spared the devastation suffered by New York City and neighboring New Jersey. Here, downed branches and leaves litter the sidewalks. Power crews and internet providers are at work in some neighborhoods.

The Apple store downtown is still sandbagged but other businesses are starting to reopen. The Schuylkill River's churning fast and brown, pushing at its banks. Runners and walkers took to the streets today, eager for fresh air after being cooped up during yesterday's wind and rain.

Public transit has resumed in part today and will resume more tomorrow. On Wednesday, kids will go back to school. Adults will go back to work. And I will hopefully return to Burlington. My flight that was supposed to leave tomorrow morning got cancelled. But I've rescheduled a second time and am set to leave tomorrow at 9 p.m.--flying over a much-darkened east coast on Halloween night.
