New center at Niagara University to support small business

The office of Kathy Hochul (D-NY), Representative for the 26th congressional district, has announced that $300,000 in federal funding has been awarded to the World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara to set up a technical assistance center at Niagara University.

The center known as the Niagara PTAC will be there to provide support to contractors applying for and federal government contracts, particularly in the area of defense. Procurement Technical Assistance Centers date from 1985 and receive funding through co-operative agreements between the Department of Defense and state/regional agencies.

"This grant is another step toward ensuring our small businesses have the support and resources necessary to succeed", Kathy Hochul says.

Niagara County has 138 defense contractors* and last year they delivered 492 defense supply contracts in the amount of $97,421,212, but that was down considerably on the figures for the previous two years.
