The New York State Assembly is holding a public hearing on Thursday morning in Albany to take public comment on the proposed regulations for fracking in the state.
The hearing will be held at the Hamilton Hearing Room B Legislative Office Building, Second Floor, Albany from 9.30am and can be viewed online here.
The announcement comes after a large presence in Albany by both pro and anti-fracking groups ahead of the governor's State of the State address on Wednesday afternoon.
The public comment period on the draft fracking regulations compiled by the state's Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) closes this Friday, 11th January.
The DEC had previously announced that only written submissions by mail or email would be accepted during the 30-day comment period.
A group Elected Officials to Protect New York made a call earlier in the week for an extension to the public comment period, a move that was dismissed as unnecessary by a group representing natural gas leaseholders.
