Economic development awards totaling nearly $716 million were announced at an event in Albany Wednesday. The figure is down slightly from $738 million awarded in 2012. It's the third year for the allocation of regional economic development funding under the Cuomo administration.
The awards format, with it's 'we're all winners' mantra was predictably upbeat and slick. The event kicked off with a light-hearted, and uncharacteristically moderate, video appearance by comedian Lewis Black.
