Welcome WBFO listeners!

This week marks an exciting transition in public broadcasting in western New York.

Buffalo's two public stations, WNED and WBFO, are teaming up to become one, incredibly awesome station.  The news that comes out of the reformulated station will be broadcast under the WBFO name.

So that means the WNED Innovation Trail reporter that you've come to know and love, Daniel Robison, will now be signing off for both WBFO and AM 970.

Here's how news director Jim Ranney explains the transition:

WBFO 88-7 FM is now part of the WNED families of public radio and television stations. Together WBFO and AM 970 will provide listeners in WNY and Southern Ontario with NPR news, local and regional news and the best programs public radio has to offer. We are also excited to bring our Innovation Trail reports to the WBFO listeners.

We'd like to second that last bit - the Innovation Trail is also excited to be able to share its work with WBFO listeners.  So if you're new to the family, why not follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, or subscribe to the RSS or podcast feed of our work?

Also, take a minute to scroll through the related stories below - that'll catch you up on some of the best reporting we've done from western New York.

And as ever, if you have ideas for stories about New York's innovation economy, don't hesitate to send them our way.

Good luck to everyone involved in this new endeavor!
