On February 1st, Governor Cuomo launched a training program designed to develop a Citizen Preparedness Corps in the state.

The program aims to train some 100,000 New Yorkers in disaster readiness and is being lead by the State's National Guard, Department of Homeland Security, offices of Emergency Services and county-level emergency management.

"We want our state's citizens to be the most prepared in the nation for natural disasters as we continue to reimagine New York for a new reality,” said Governor Cuomo.

The Innovation Trail's Jenna Flanagan  attended one of the volunteer training sessions recently and filed this video report.
