DEC Commissioner on fracking: "We are going slow"

In his first television interview since his agency released its draft on hydrofracking regulations, New York Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens sat down to talk about how the DEC is addressing public concern over the controversial natural gas drilling technique.

Below, Martens responds to a question from Karen DeWitt, from NYS Public Radio, on whether or not he's changed his position on fracking.

You can see the full interview on this week's episode of New York NOW.

Earlier today, the DEC posted an updated draft of the permitting regulations it has outlined for hydrofracking, also known as the Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement (SGEIS).
