Avery Schneider

Avery began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WRUB, the University at Buffalo’s student-run radio station.

Avery ventured into journalism as a staff writer for The Spectrum at SUNY Buffalo and then into broadcast journalism as a newsroom intern at WBFO. He was part of the team that covered the crash of Flight 3407, which won the Regional Edward R. Murrow Award and PRNDI First Place Award for Breaking News. Avery also worked as a Media Specialist Intern for University Communications at SUNY Buffalo.

In 2010, Avery became a part-time evening reporter for WBFO. Since 2014, he has returned to the newsroom’s airwaves, taking a hands-on approach to covering events and issues around Western New York and hosting weekend programs. He also plays a key role in keeping the newsroom running as a part-time administrative assistant.

Avery is a 2010 graduate of the University at Buffalo with a B.A. in English, a Journalism Certificate, and minors in Education and Military Science. He has been a member of the Buffalo Broadcasters Association Board of Directors since 2015.
